Commerce
The Department of B.Com was established in the year 2007. The primary objective of this program is to provide quality education and impart competencies in the domain of Accounting, Taxation, Finance, Banking, Human Resources & marketing which enables students to equip with advanced knowledge and professional capabilities in consonance with the rapidly changing needs and opportunities. The Bachelor’s degree is affiliated with Bangalore University. At present, the department has the experienced and highly qualified faculty members and about 630 students. The Programme prepares young learners to pursue professional Programmes such as CA, ACCA, CMA and CS and readies them for employability. To cater for the needs of the corporate, the department also provides add-on certification courses like Advanced Excel, Tally ERP 9.0, Data Analytics, Business Analytics, GST, Direct tax and many more. The department offers students a platform for academic excellence with subjects that are constructed to provide equal emphasis on theoretical and practical exposure. The Commerce forum “AKANKSHA” plays an important role in enhancing the skills of the students by organizing various activities like Seminar, workshops, Conference, Experts talk, Trade Fest – Commercia, Exhibition- Vanijya darshana through which they get an exposure beyond their horizon.
Business Administration
The department of Business Administration is affiliated to Bangalore University, Bangalore. The department was established in the year 2007 with a Bachelor of Business Administration course. To add a New feather to its crown, the department started a new course BBA in Aviation Management. Presently it offers two courses namely Bachelor of Business Administration and Bachelor of Business Administration in Aviation Management. The core philosophy of the department is to provide quality management education through harnessing the managerial skills, developing the language competency among students.
At the same time, the department gives the importance to develop industry required skills like a problem- solving, decision making, interpersonal and intrapersonal skills. As a result of that students have considerably increased their performance in the placement drive.
Indeed, it is the strong conviction of the department that the academic curriculum alone will not feed the thrust of students. For this, it strives to go beyond academics like experiential learning through Industrial visits, Case studies, Management activities, internship, projects and encourage students to take part in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. This invitation has motivated students to focus on entrepreneurship and start- up planning.
Computer Science
The Department of Computer Science was established in 2007. Besides the university curriculum, the department also prepares the students with augmented programs in Robotics, IoT, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Cyber Security, Gaming and Anima- tion and Web technologies The deparment also helps to inculcate the leadership, communication, moral and ethical values through well designed programs. Blended learning is one of the key modes of learning that department has adopted for upskilling and reskilling student technical knowledge.
Keeping in pace with the changing needs of the IT industry, the department conducts array of TIPS(Techni- cal Improvement Program for Students) through Certification, Bootcamps, Workshops, SIMSTRONICS, Webinars , Conclave, Symposium, Internships, Tech-a-thon and technical events through IT Clubs. These programs are executed in association with Swayam-NPTEL, CSI Student Chapter, IEEE Student Chapter, ICT Academy and from Centre of Excellence of Premier institution across PAN India.
Sciences
The Department strives to set a benchmark in quality higher education with an emphasis on preparing the students in all areas of science Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Computer Science. Classroom teaching is made interactive through various methods of teaching and learning which include presentations, peer tutoring, use of e – resources, use of software simulators etc.
The department has also been actively organizing guest lecturers, national/state conferences, workshops, seminars, exhibitions, quiz programs, club activities and industry visits, in order to achieve all round development of students. It also emphasizes value addition programs like certificate courses, holistic development etc.
Forensic Science
Forensic Science has become the most crucial part of modern judicial system. The course, B.Sc in Foren- sic Science is a 3-year graduate course deals with the application of scientific knowledge in crime investigation and the study of the human anatomy. In this course, students learn all aspects of forensic science such as how clues can be collected from a crime scene, physical evidence such as hair, blood, and fingerprints that are taken to the laboratories to present them as evidence in court.
The course will enable students to develop scientific principles of conducting investigation, technical skills, scientific aptitude, and an inquisitive mind with keen observational skills, and prepare them to handle work pressure that can come from the judiciary, police, and administration besides, highlighting the importance of ethics as a working professional. With the increasing crime rates in India, the demand for forensic scientists has only been growing.
Arts & Humanities
One of India oldest and most established undergraduate programs is this one. The BA (Journalism, Psychology, English and Political Science) program at Soundarya Institute of Management and Sciencebegan in 2018, and the campus has a well-equipped journalism studio and excellent psychology lab facilities. For the students, there are many workshops, seminars, internships, etc. Although the BA program is very popular with students in the Arts stream, there are no stream-specific restrictions on it. It indicates that students from any major—whether they are in the arts, sciences, or commerce—can enroll in this course. It gives students the tools they need to engage with challenging contemporary social and political ideas, comprehend and refute preconceived notions of individual and group identities, and apply literary and theoretical concepts.
The department works to improve students’ academic lives by focusing on their needs and using the best strategies to give them rich learning experiences. Through internships, project work, presentations, assignments, industrial visits, and seminars, we provide exposure to the industry. Clubs from the department (English, Journalism, Psychology, and Political Science) engage students in a variety of departmental activities to enrich their knowledge, behaviors, and skills and talents to empower them to become professionals. This helps to foster unity and creativity among students.
